Terms of use

Updated

These terms cover suckerpunch.gg, the Suckerpunch API, and the Suckerpunch plugin for ChatGPT and other AI assistants (together, "Suckerpunch"). Suckerpunch is built and run by the Manasync team. By using it you agree to these terms. Questions go to contact@suckerpunch.gg.

What Suckerpunch is

Suckerpunch publishes usage and win-rate statistics for competitive Pokémon Champions VGC, counted from public tournament results and Pokémon Showdown ladder games. It is free to use and needs no account.

Suckerpunch is fan-made. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon and all related names, characters and images are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to identify the subject of the statistics.

Using the site, the API and the plugin

You may read the site, call the public API, and use the plugin in an AI assistant, for personal or commercial purposes. When you republish figures from Suckerpunch, attribute them to "Sucker Punch, https://suckerpunch.gg".

Please do not:

  • send traffic meant to overload or disrupt the service, or work around its rate limits;
  • try to reach parts of the service that are not public, such as the data import and publishing routes;
  • use Suckerpunch to harass or misrepresent a player.

Access may be limited or blocked for anyone who does.

The statistics

The numbers are computed from data other people publish, and that data has gaps: not every event publishes team lists, and the ladder is a different population from tournaments. How each figure is made is explained on the method page. Suckerpunch tries to be accurate but does not guarantee that any figure is complete, current or correct, and is not responsible for decisions made on the basis of it.

AI assistants

When you use Suckerpunch through ChatGPT or another assistant, the assistant decides what to ask Suckerpunch and how to present the answer. Suckerpunch is responsible for the data its tools return, not for what the assistant writes around it. Your use of the assistant itself is governed by that assistant's own terms.

Ownership

The Suckerpunch software, design and written content belong to the Manasync team. The underlying tournament and replay data belongs to the sources that published it: Limitless, Victory Road, the official Play! Pokémon circuit, terurun.jp and Pokémon Showdown.

No warranty

Suckerpunch is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the Manasync team is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from using or being unable to use Suckerpunch.

Changes

These terms may change. The current version will always be on this page with its date at the top, and continuing to use Suckerpunch after a change means you accept the new terms.

Privacy is covered separately in the privacy policy.
