Privacy policy
This policy covers suckerpunch.gg, the Suckerpunch API, and the Suckerpunch plugin for ChatGPT and other AI assistants (together, "Suckerpunch"). Suckerpunch is built and run by the Manasync team. Questions and requests go to contact@suckerpunch.gg.
The short version
- There are no accounts. Suckerpunch never asks for your name, email or password.
- The website uses Google analytics to count visits.
- The ChatGPT plugin receives only what the assistant sends to look up statistics, such as a Pokémon name or a regulation. It does not receive your ChatGPT account, your name or your conversation.
- Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
The website
Analytics. suckerpunch.gg loads Google Tag Manager, which runs Google Analytics. Google collects the pages you view, your browser and device type, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you arrived at the site, and it sets cookies to recognise a returning browser. Suckerpunch sees this only as aggregated reports. Google's handling is described at policies.google.com/privacy. You can block these cookies in your browser, or use Google's opt-out add-on.
Preferences in your browser. Your light or dark theme, your chosen time window and your current selection are saved in your own browser's storage so the site remembers them. They are never sent to Suckerpunch.
The site assistant. If you use the chat assistant on suckerpunch.gg, your messages are sent to Suckerpunch's server and from there to OpenAI, which generates the reply. Suckerpunch does not store your conversation. Your IP address is used, in the server's memory only, to limit how many requests one visitor can make per minute. It is not written to a database or to Suckerpunch's logs. OpenAI handles the messages under its own privacy policy.
The API and the ChatGPT plugin
When an assistant uses Suckerpunch, it calls the Suckerpunch API with the arguments it chose: for example a Pokémon name, a regulation, a time window, or the six Pokémon of a team. That is the only content Suckerpunch receives. The assistant does not send your account, your identity or the rest of your conversation, and Suckerpunch does not ask for them. The plugin needs no sign-in.
Suckerpunch does not store the arguments of these requests. Like any website, the hosting provider (Google Cloud, through Firebase) keeps standard request logs: the time, the address requested, the IP address the request came from and the software that made it. For plugin requests that IP address belongs to the assistant's servers, not to you. These logs are used only to keep the service running and secure, and Google Cloud deletes them after its default retention period of 30 days.
Public tournament data
The statistics come from public sources: tournament results and team lists published by Limitless, Victory Road, the official Play! Pokémon circuit and terurun.jp, and replays published by Pokémon Showdown. Some of that data carries player names or handles alongside teams and placements, exactly as the source published it, and Suckerpunch shows them the same way.
If you are a player and want a name corrected, unlinked from another identity, or removed, email contact@suckerpunch.gg with the name and the event, and it will be handled.
Who else processes data
- Google hosts the site and the API and provides analytics.
- OpenAI generates the site assistant's replies.
Suckerpunch does not sell or rent personal information and does not share it for advertising.
Children
Suckerpunch is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Your requests
To ask what Suckerpunch holds about you, or to have something corrected or deleted, email contact@suckerpunch.gg. Because there are no accounts, in practice this means player names in tournament data and anything you have emailed.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
